Kim Jones, the renowned artistic director of Dior Homme, curates Radical Modernity: From Bloomsbury to Charleston, an exhibition celebrating the groundbreaking spirit of the Bloomsbury Group. Opening at Sotheby’s London from November 9–26, the showcase features a blend of works from Charleston’s collection and items from the Modern British & Irish Art auction.
Highlights include Vanessa Bell's rediscovered painting The Party (1920), which offers a glimpse into the social world that inspired Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway.
‘I first went to Charleston when I was around 14, to go sketching in the garden, and I still have the brochure from that day. It was the centre of the Bloomsbury universe, down in Sussex, and it brought everyone together – and this sense of art connecting people is something that carries through even now.’
Says Kim Jones.
The exhibition captures the group's defiance of Victorian norms and their enduring influence on art and culture, providing a rare opportunity for visitors to engage with their radical vision firsthand.
