ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has ventured into AI wearables with the launch of its Ola Friend earbuds in China. Priced at $170, the open-ear device integrates with ByteDance's popular chatbot Doubao, allowing users to interact with the generative AI assistant via voice commands.

The earbuds, designed for activities like travel, language practice, and music, come in four colors and weigh just 6.6 grams each. Available for order on Tmall, JD.com, and Douyin, shipments begin on October 17.

This marks ByteDance's latest push into AI-powered hardware following its acquisition of wearable tech start-up Oladance.
