Fashion’s Fascination With Space

Prada has ventured into an exciting new frontier designing spacesuits for NASA’s Artemis III mission, in collaboration with Axiom Space. Scheduled for 2025, this mission will mark NASA’s first crewed lunar landing since 1972, and notably, the first time a woman, Christina Hammock Koch, will step on the moon.

Prada’s expertise in materials, innovation, and design will be applied to creating the AxEMU spacesuit, focusing on both functionality and aesthetic appeal. With space tourism on the rise, this partnership highlights the intersection of luxury fashion and space exploration, suggesting that Prada’s future clientele may include ultra-luxury space travelers.

Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada’s marketing director, sees this collaboration as a celebration of human creativity, pushing the boundaries of both fashion and science.

This marks a continuation of fashion’s fascination with space, following collaborations between NASA and other luxury brands like Coach and Balenciaga in recent years.
